Historical & Cultural
The Arjuna Temple Complex dates back to the 7th–8th century and represents the earliest Hindu architecture in Central Java. Dieng’s name is derived from “Di Hyang,” meaning “Abode of the Gods”. Historically, it was a sacred place for early Hindu pilgrims. Its unique plateau, once a volcanic caldera, holds spiritual significance and still hosts traditional ceremonies such as the Ruwatan Anak Gimbal (ritual for dreadlocked children believed to be blessed)
